| A journey through the very best of northern Peru. From the dry coastline we travel up to the spectacular Cordillera Blanca – rated as one of the finest areas in all of South America for its superb mountain vistas and home to one of the oldest archeological sites in southamerica: Chavin de Huantar. During 4 days we hike one of the most popular treks in the area from the Santa Cruz valley, passing under a dozen peaks over 5800 mtrs (19’000 ft) to the turquoise colored glacier lagoons of Llanganuco.
We continue our journey with an exciting Amazon adventure. During 4 days we sail on the Amazon, Marañon and Huallaga rivers on a comfortable riverboat, discovering the famous Pacaya Samiria national reserve, with 2’080’000 ha, the country’s largest protected area. The reserve’s waterways and wetlands provide habitat for manatee, tapir, river dolphins, giant otters, black cayman, boas, 193 species of fish and some 330 bird species. Our journey ends with four days in the pristine forest of Sucusari Reserve with its access to the adjoining Amazon Canopy Walkway, one of the longest treetop walkways in the world, exploring the wonders of the endless green rainforest. |
