| This neo-colonial city of white volcanic stone lies at 2’380 meters (7’850 ft) above sea level in a fertile, irrigated valley surrounded by desert between the Andes and Peru’s Pacific coast. Known as “The City of Eternal Spring”, Arequipa receives less than 150mm of annual rainfall and the sun shines all year round. The close by canyons of Colca and Cotahuasi can be reached easily from Arequipa. At more than 3’400 meters deep (11’220 ft), they are considered the deepest canyons in the world, where condors rise above ancient Inca terracing and the whitewashed colonial churches of picturesque villages. |

| ITINERARY |
| DAY 1: | AREQUIPA | | Arriving in Arequipa transfer to the hotel and rest of the day free for acclimatizing (2400 mts/7’920 ft) or optional visits to one of the beautiful museums or monasteries (Sta. Catalina). Overnight in the hotel in Arequipa. | | DAY 2: | AREQUIPA – COLCA CANYON | | After breakfast we start our bus trip through volcanic countryside, passing wild herds of alpaca and vicuña and stopping at several viewpoints. Around noon we arrive at the village of Chivay where we get installed in our hotel. Afternoon visit to the natural hot springs of “La Calera” and return to the Lodge for overnight. (B) | | DAY 3: | COLCA CANYON - AREQUIPA | | We start early in the morning by bus towards the famous “Cruz del Condor”, great scenic views into the depths of the Colca Canyon and best place to observe the majestic condors in their natural habitat. We have ample time to enjoy this spectacle and the valley before we return to Chivay and then to Arequipa. Arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon for overnight. (B) | |
