| DAY 1: | HUARAZ - LLAMAC |
| A scenic busdrive brings us past the Conococha lagoon and the village of Chiquian to the village of Llamac (3300 mts/10’900 ft) where we meet up with our staff of wranglers, packmules and saddle horses and find our first campsite. (L/D) |
| DAY 2: | LLAMAC - MATACANCHA |
| Today, we follow the easy pathes of the local people, passing by their potato crops, the little village of Pocpa and the Palca mines before we arrive at the village of Matacancha (4200 mts/13’900 ft) in the afternoon where we install our camp. (B/L/D) |
| DAY 3: | MATACANCHA - MITUCOCHA |
| Our hiking time is 6-7 hours and we cross the Cacananpunta pass at 4700 mts/ 15’500 ft. From here we descend to the Mitucocha lagoon (4300 mts/14’200 ft) where we can relax in our comfortable campsite enjoying the fascinating mountain views with the snow peaks of Mt. Jirishanca Chico and Rondoy Ninashanca. (B/L/D) |
| DAY 4: | MITUCOCHA - CARHUACOCHA |
| A 3 hours hike brings us late morning to the pass of Carhuac 4650 mts/15’350 ft. Alter a fortifying lunch we continue in the afternoon towards th Carhuacocha lagoon (4100 mts/13’550 ft) from where we can enjoy fantastic panoramas onto the surrounding snow peaks like Siula, Yerupaja, Yirishanca and Toro. | DAY 5: | CARHUACOCHA - HUAYHUASH |
| A long and steady uphill brings us during the morning to the Carnicero pass (4600 mts/15’200 ft). During the descent we can apréciate fantastic views onto the snow peaks of Trapecio, Jurao, Carnicero and Siula, getting mid afternoon to our campsite at Huayhuash (4350 mts/14’350 ft). Weather permitting we have some spectacular views from the surrounding mountains. (B/L/D) |
| DAY 6: | HUAYHUASH - VICONGA |
| Today we have approximately 5-6 hours of hiking ahead of us. During the morning we cross the Huayhuash pass (4750 mts/15’700 ft) from where we can observe the entire Raura mountain range. Passing by the Viconga lagoon we get to our camp in the afternoon (4500 mts/14’850 ft). (B/L/D) |
| DAY 7: | VICONGA – HUANACPATAY |
| During the morning we cross the highest point of our trek at 5000 mts/16’500 ft from where can view nearly the entire Huayhuash mountain range. A long descent brings us in the afternoon to the Huanacpatay gorge where our camp is already set up (4250 mts/ 14’000 ft). (B/L/D) |
| DAY 8: | HUANACPATAY - COTATAMBO |
| From the San Antonio pass (5000 mts/16’500 ft) we enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding snow peaks before we descend to our camp at Cotatambo. (B/L/D) |
| DAY 9: | COTATAMBO |
| A soft 3 hours uphill leads us in the morning to the Sarapococha lagoon from where we can apréciate the east wall of Mt. Siula. (B/L/D) |
| DAY 10: | COTATAMBO - HUATIAC |
| After appr. 3 hours hiking, we arrive at some beautiful waterfalls. From here we have great views onto the snow peaks Caramarca, Rosario and Juitumarco. Now we descend to Huayllapa (3600 mts/11’900 ft) from where we have to hike uphill again to our camp at Huatiac (4200 mts/13’900 ft) (B/L/D) |
| DAY 11: | HUATIAC - JAHUACOCHA |
| Our today’s hike leads us over two high passes: First we cross the Tapush pass (4800 mts/15’840 ft) from where we can enjoy fantastic panoramas of the Huayhuash mountain range with it’s snow peaks and later we cross the Llaucha pass (4850 mts/16’000 ft). A 2 hours hike brings us from here to the beautiful Jahuacocha lagoon where we camp for tonight. (B/L/D) |
| DAY 12: | JAHUACOCHA – LLAMAC – HUARAZ |
| From the Llamacpampa pass (4300 mts/14’200 ft) we can enjoy a last panoramic view of the snow peaks before we start descending towards the village of Llamac where our bus awaits us for the drive back to Huaraz. (B/L/D) |
